Volunteers are essential to our programs and operations here at Palm Valley Animal Society. We rely on the care, dedication, and support our volunteer team provides. Palm Valley Animal Society welcomes anyone willing to donate their time to help save homeless animals in the Rio Grande Valley. For the safety of the animals, volunteers, guests, and staff, completion of the Volunteer Program Registration process and Service Agreement is required prior to volunteering.

Volunteer Requirements

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please click below and a member of our Community Engagement Department will be in touch with you soon! We look forward to working alongside you and welcome you into our lifesaving team.

  • Submit the volunteer application

  • Watch the online orientation, if available.

​

  • Treat all animals, staff, and fellow volunteers with kindness.

  • Be able to complete the mandatory Cat and/or Dog Care Training if you will be handling animals.

​

  • Be 18 years of age or older, or meet the age requirements listed below. 

A volunteer application and orientation is required in order to volunteer with PVAS. Once your application and orientation are complete, a Community Engagement Coordinator will contact you via email to finish setting you up as a PVAS Volunteer. Please remember to check your email (and spam/trash folder) periodically after signing up. (It may take our team 1-3 business days to review your application and reach out with firt)

Orientation and Onboarding Process

 

A Volunteer application and orientation is required in order to Volunteer with Palm Valley Animal Society! Once completing the application and orientation, you will be contacted by our Community Engagement Department within 1-3 days of submission. You will receive instructions to create your volunteer profile with us through email. Hang tight!

Under 18?

Volunteers 16-17 years old:

Volunteer must submit a signed  Volunteer Service Agreement signed by yourself and a parent/legal guardian via MyImpactPage, via Email to volunteer@pvastx.org, or in person at either location.

Volunteers 14 - 15 years:

Parent and Volunteer must both register and volunteer must submit a signed Volunteer Service Agreement to MyImpactPage, via Email to volunteer@pvastx.org, or in person at either location. 
Parent/legal guardian must accompany child on-site at all times.

Volunteers under 12 years old: 

Send us an email at volunteer@pvastx.org to see about special projects for young kids!

How do I become a volunteer?

  • Complete our online volunteer application and watch the online orientation video along with it.

  • Please wait 1-3 business days for a volunteer coordinator to send you an email with a link to create your volunteer profile!

  • Remember, it is important to keep checking your email inbox for updates on your volunteer registration.

I registered! Now what?

  • Please allow 1-3 business days for the volunteer team to contact you with further instructions on how to create your volunteer account to be able to sign up for shifts online.

I would like to volunteer for community service.

  • Great! At PVAS, we are currently accepting community service volunteers. Please contact your supervisor if you qualify for service at our locations.

I registered, but I never heard back.

  • Please check your email inbox for emails from volunteer@pvastx.org. Likely, you have received an email from us with further instructions on continuing to create your volunteer profile, which is the next step to your registration.

Our group would like to volunteer.

  • We are gladly accepting group volunteers at PVAS. Please contact the volunteer coordinator to get you and your group started!
